This panorama is a composite of three images from research cameras positioned on the north rim of Pu`u`O`o crater on Kilauea Volcano on the Island of Hawai'i. The images update every 5 minutes. At times, clouds and volcanic fume obscure visibility.
The cameras are subject to sporadic breakdown, and their remote location makes immediate repair impossible. Cameras can be where people should not. Pu`u `O`o is off-limits to the general public because of multiple and significant volcanic hazards.
